I stumbled upon this JW material website and thought I would share it with you all.
i need to vent again here.
because i have no one else to talk with and no one who really understands except for the people here.
my wife is the most dangerous kind of jw.
A person with blinkers on cannot see sideways no matter what you do.
I have former JW "friends" who every time they hear about a disaster such as a tornado, hurricane, or earthquake will immediately say "Oh the poor brothers. I will pray that they are safe."
Why don't you pray for the rest of the people who have suffered? But they will not, because they are told that those people are going to be destroyed at Armageddon anyway.
Callous, uncaring, and blinkered.
apparently the jws of coventry, england, have been spending their congregation's money buying names and addresses from the local council.
i wonder what they want them for and is this something that each congregation does?
i'm curious now.

the humanist organisation in the uk wants to protect non-religious people who leave their church/religion from being punished for doing so.
they want the religious hate crime legislation in the uk to be extended to people who are not religious.
i hope they will succeed.

I hope they will succeed. Because then shunning would be considered a hate crime and charges could be brought against those doing it. But I guess we'll have to wait and see what happens.
when i drive by the kingdom hall i grew up attending at but, was sold directly to a church, i get angry.
the elders who handled the sale didn't even remove the watchtower shaped bricks on each side of the sign near the street so, now they advertise for a baptist church.
how many times as i grew up i heard things like: you should not do work ( such as clean carpets for a church) you wouldn't want to work at a cigarette making plant or a facility that makes bombs for the military.
There is a hall in Northern Ireland I think that bought their property directly from the Presbyterian Church.
It annoyed a lot of the congregation at the time that they were giving their hard earned savings and a loan from the WT society directly to Babylon the Great. But since the elders and the CO had pushed it through by signing the contract, they had to agree to it. And of course when the building was dedicated to Jehovah the bad vibes were taken away. Besides the CO was adamant that when Babylon the Great falls and Armageddon comes all that wealth will be spoils for the taking.
Made no sense then, makes no sense still.
i am sharing this for no other reason than it made me laugh.

we are all very familiar with the fact that jws do not celebrate xmas.
we probably used the same speech as we had been told from the platform that since xmas had its roots in paganism everything associated with it was a big no-no.
xmas trees, definitely a no-no!

Xmas trees, definitely a no-no! However I was talking to a new friend of mine who attends a Baptist Church and it was enlightening to get his take on the subject.
Here's a link that he sent me. See what you think of it. It is quite a balanced approach.
